Gas Prices and Barack Obama's Perspective on Energy

By John W. Lillpop

Barack Obama actually made an excellent point recently when he said, in part, "We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK."

That is exactly right, senator.

And we cannot expect oil-producing nations to provide America with an unlimited supply of oil at $65 a barrel when that same oil can fetch well over $110 a barrel on the open market.

And we are not justified in becoming frustrated at skyrocketing energy costs while US politicians arrogantly refuse to drill for new oil reserves, block new refining capacity, and will not consider viable options like nuclear energy.

America can become energy independent only by rejecting politicians who believe that imposing higher taxes, eliminating automobiles, and developing exotic, unproved alternative energy sources can solve our energy crisis.

Such politicians have actually caused the crisis; they need to forced out of the way in order for Yankee ingenuity to take over!

Now that is the sort of change that America desperately needs!
