More Harmful to African-Americans: Don Imus or Crystal Gail Mangum?

by John W. Lillpop

What a sad commentary that the world continues to spin out of control because of an "inflammatory" comment made by a 70-year-old hippie DJ-cowboy that hardly anyone listens to.

For nearly a week, Don Imus, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson have conspired to hog news headlines over a silly, non-story that should have ended when the I-man apologized.

But, come to think of it, Imus did not apologize to the Black Caucus on Capitol Hill.

Moreover, it is rumored that the I-Man has yet to atone for his sins by sending a dozen flowers to the grave of Jackie Robinson, the black player who crashed baseball's race barrier with the Brooklyn Dodgers 60 years ago.

Better get with it, Imus, because the Robinson anniversary falls on April 15.

Worse of all, while groveling before the Shakedown King of New York City, that being the Reverend Al Sharpton, Imus had the temerity to use the racist slur "you people."

Better send two dozen flowers and a bottle of expensive wine, I-man!

While the Sharpton- to- Jackson scam team has been executing it's double talk routine all week, a very serious story has all but been ignored.

Crystal Gail Mangum is the young black stripper who attempted to ruin the lives of three Duke University students by falsely accusing the three of rape.

On April 12, the attorney general of North Carolina came forward and flatly declared the three young men "innocent of these charges."

In other words, Crystal Gail Mangum is a liar.

A damnable liar who people like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and other race-baiting shysters have exploited to advance the notion that African-Americans are still powerless victims of rampant racism at the hands of white people.

The truth is that Crystal Gail Mangum's despicable lies and behavior have done far more damage to the black community than Don Imus could hope to accomplish in year of "nappy-headed ho's" remarks.

Anyone genuinely concerned with the dignity of African-Americans should work aggressively to make sure that Crystal Gail Mangum is punished to the full extent of the law so that legitimate claims will continue to be taken seriously.

Got that "reverends"?

Or is the money to be made by chasing and shaking down a millionaire DJ-cowboy more important than working to preserve the dignity and integrity of the black community?
