The Taxing Insanity of Democrats

By John W. Lillpop

To any Democrat worth his or her weight in Impeach Bush! bumper stickers, nothing is more threatening than a tax cut involving the return of money to those who actually paid taxes.

Mind you, Democrats see nothing morally or economically wrong with passing out tax refunds to illegal immigrants, the homeless, or others who paid no taxes to begin with.

Unless, of course, a non-payer happens to be a Caucasian Republican who has earned "obscene" profits, and who, for whatever reason, did not pay all taxes owed.

In these rare instances, most Democrats will vacate their opposition to the death penalty, and will push for a swift execution.

After all, dead Republicans with high-value tax liens can help bail out inept Democrat office holders and their inevitable budget tragedies.

Given the liberal mindset on taxes, it should come as no great surprise that the recent good news on tax revenues was greeted with outright skepticism by the loonies on the left.

The good news was this: As a result of the Bush tax cuts, federal tax revenues have actually increased, thereby reducing the deficit more quickly than planned.

Repeat: Tax cuts resulted in increased tax revenues and boosted the economy!
Unemployment is virtually non-existent and the stock market is in record territory—again!

All Americans--liberal and conservative--would surely cheer such good news, right?

Well, not exactly.

Democrats and the mean-spirited media not only did not cheer the news, but absolutely refused to congratulate President Bush for a policy that stoked the engine of free enterprise and added jobs to the U.S. economy.

In fact, the first round of Bush tax cuts lifted the nation out of the Clinton recession!

Other than political jealously, why would liberals be anything but pleased at increased government revenues?

According to a liberal friend, the answer is simple:

Additional revenues could have been realized by simply increasing, rather than reducing, taxes on corporations and the wealthy.

And, Democrats foolishly contend that would have saved scores of millions of dollars spent to process and deliver tax refund checks. To say nothing of the interest lost to the government whilst tax refunds were in the hands of the unwashed public.

To a Democrat, there is no greater sin than to relinquish control over monies that have already been extracted from hard-working, tax-paying American families. Even when do so would ultimately result in greater revenues for the federal government.

That is liberal insanity at its zenith!

John W. Lillpop is a recovering liberal.
