George W. Bush will not leave Washington, D.C. under the cloud of being considered the dumbest man in town.
Mr. Bush has been bailed out, to coin a phrase, from that dubious honor by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, naturally a liberal Democrat.
Reid is the knot head who fought funding for the "surge" of troops in Iraq, based on his astute observation that the "War is lost," which, despite the best efforts of Reid and Nancy Pelosi, has been debunked once and for all.
As if demoralizing U.S. troops in harm's way with stupid comments about losing the war were not bad enough, Reid decided to try his inept hand at Wall Street prognostications.
On Wednesday, Reid told reporters that "one of the individuals in the caucus today talked about a major insurance company -- a major insurance company -- one with a name that everyone knows that's on the verge of going bankrupt."

Bingo! Reid the mark again as insurers went into the tank on Wall Street:
